Rosalind and I were invited to our first joint Internet radio interview by Monica Moshenko of www.disabilitynewsradio.com on May 3rd.
Internet radio is nothing like traditional radio. We used our telephones (I’m in California, Rosalind is in Massachusetts and Monica is in New York ). We used telephone conferencing, VOIP and a recording system to get all three of us in one conversation. Though we had some auditory technology challenges, it went well and we had a good time.
We answered Monica’s excellent questions about the nature of autoimmune diseases, the issues that are most difficult for women in the workplace - and why - as well as a question at the top of mind for women with AD’s, to disclose or not to disclose. We also talked briefly about self-employment as an option.
Monica was one of the early reviewers of Women, Work and Autoimmune Disease, and had this to say when she sent the announcement email out to her subscribers.
“Filled with tips, tricks and first-person accounts from women who have made similar choices in their own lives, this unique book is a resounding call for self-reliance and resilience.”
Thank you, Monica, for your support, and the work you’re doing to encourage conversation in a world where it often seems better to keep quiet about all this.
